Explore Spirituality & Mindfulness in Therapy

The Answers You Seek Lie In Exploring Your “Being-ness” In The World

In therapy, I support my clients in understanding what it means to them to have a spiritual connection. Spirituality is different from religion. Spirituality supports you in understanding your greater connection to others and the world. Through this lens, you open up to seeing and experiencing life in new ways.

Spirituality is about connecting to the essence of who you are and your place in the world. You are the “experiencer” having the experience. Your spiritual connection will support you in defining what that experience is and what it means to you.

When you have a strong spiritual connection, it gives you a foundation to feel safer in the world. This sense of safety allows you to address issues in your life that may have seemed too scary or challenging to focus on in the past. My clients who report growth in their spiritual connection say they feel more hopeful about their future and the issues that brought them to therapy.

What Do I Mean By “Being-ness”?

In order to “be”, it means to bring energy. What is the energy you are bringing to every situation, circumstance, and relationship in your life? The energy and life force that you bring to your experience has an impact on every outcome. Who you “be” affects what you “do” which results in what you “experience.”

Each day you wake up with a choice to be your highest and most authentic self. The challenge is in really knowing what that looks like and how that translates into your behavior and actions. In sessions, we will work together to assist you in identifying who you get to be in your life, what that really means and how to achieve the results you desire.

How Is Mindfulness Used In Therapy?

People who are mindful actually have better results in therapy because they are able to slow down and witness their experience in the present moment. This is where healing and transformation happens. Healing doesn’t happen when you think about it, it happens as you experience it.

Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of what’s happening in the present moment, moment by moment. It supports you in developing self-awareness and knowing who you are. In my practice, I use mindfulness to support you in connecting to what’s happening within you, right now.

Mindfulness allows you to track your thoughts, feelings, sensations, awareness, and movements in real-time.

Is Therapy Different With A Mindfulness Focus?

Mindfulness-focused therapy is about taking the time to slow down and tune in to what’s happening inside of you as you move through a therapy session.

Mindfulness is the skill that allows you to stop reacting impulsively to your feelings and instead gives the space to process and move through what you are truly feeling. Only then can you have access to the truth and new awareness that leads to change.

My job is to walk you through the process and teach you how to use mindfulness in your life.

How Does This Connect Back To My Spirituality?

Each person is their own unique expression of consciousness. Spirituality is about connecting to the conscious moment. It’s about connecting to something greater than your physical self and something that is often hard to define and express.

Spirituality is connecting to the essence and energy of who you are and your connection to everything else in the world. Mindfulness is the practice of how you do this.

What if I’m not sure about all of this? Can we still talk about it?

Therapy is a safe and non-judgmental space to talk about all the issues that are important to you. Spirituality is just one of the many issues that we will work on. Your process is yours. My role is to accept and meet you where you are on your journey. My job is to support you in creating your own definition of what spirituality means to you. You are the expert of yourself. My job is to help you see this truth.

What Do You Charge For Your Sessions?

I am a NYC based psychotherapist and my fees are competitive with other therapists in the area.

I am an “Out of Network” Provider. Many health insurances have out of network benefits and my fees may be reimbursable. If you have a PPO health insurance plan, my services may be reimbursable by 50%-80% depending on your health insurance or employee benefit plan.

When checking with your insurance about what coverage you have, please ask the following:

As a service to you, I submit all claims electronically to insurance providers. Payment for each session is expected at the time of service. I accept all major credit cards, cash, Venmo, Zelle and PayPal.

As is standard with psychotherapy, if you do not show up for your scheduled appointment and have not notified me at least 48 hours in advance, then you will be required to pay the full cost of treatment.

Do You See Clients Remotely?

Yes, I do see clients remotely. In order to get the most out of working remotely, you need to give yourself permission to put everything else aside.

Find a quiet place to focus on you that is free from distractions. I treat working remotely with the same care and attention as an in-person session.
